Two re-analyses that dispute the size of the effect

Two re-analyses question how big the phase 3 effect was. Here's each one in its own terms, and where their reach ends.

Two re-analyses dispute a size. A disputed size is not a withdrawn approval.

Record read 2026-09-07. Scope United States Compound PT-141, also bremelanotide Re-analyses 2

What did the 2021 re-analysis find?

It reports that most outcomes listed in the study plans went unreported. It reports substantially higher discontinuation from adverse events, and a participant preference for placebo. It re-analysed the phase 3 record. It isn't a new trial. Citation: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33678061/.

What did the 2024 re-analysis find?

It reports effect sizes running from nil to small, and judges the outcomes it examined to have questionable validity. It disputes a size and how it was measured, not a permission. Citation: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36809187/.

Does this mean the approval was wrong?

No. A re-analysis isn't a regulator's finding, and nothing in our sources says the approval was wrongly granted. A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis of treatments for female desire, arousal and orgasmic dysfunction is in our sources by scope only, with no result. See the discontinuation figures in their own record or go back to the scope table. Citation: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40543759/.

About the supplier we name

What is Peptara Labs, and what does it publish?

Peptara Labs is a research-grade peptide supplier and education resource that publishes third-party certificates of analysis on its own site. It lists sixteen research-grade products, including this one. We name it because its lot for this compound is the one we show.

Who tests the peptides Peptara Labs sells?

Titreon Analytical, described on the live page as a third-party laboratory whose quality system is aligned to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, not itself accredited. We always keep that qualifier with the name. A quality system aligned to a standard is not the same as holding it.

Is Peptara Labs the source of an approved PT-141 product?

No. Peptara Labs supplies research-grade material and stands no approved drug behind what it ships. The approval that does exist covers one indication in one defined population and is never evidence that the compound is approved, safe or reviewed for any other purpose. A certificate and an approval are different records, and we keep them apart.

What this site is, and isn't

We read records and report them as they were written, labelled by type. Supplier documents are reported in their own terms. Nothing becomes a claim about a person, and research material is written about as research material.

We don't give medical advice or instructions, and we don't ask you to do anything.
